When To Change Your Toothbrush For Good Oral Health – News18

Damaged brushes can harm the gums.

Using a single brush for months and years can lead to deteriorating oral health and will also spread bacterial infection.

Everyone’s day begins with brushing up their teeth in the morning. Additionally, many of us also brush the second time in the night before sleeping to keep our oral health well. While some use soft toothbrushes, some use normal bristle brushes as per their need. However, many might not know that choosing a brush as per their needs and keeping it until their wish is not enough to keep up their dental health.

To maintain a good dental condition daily, one needs to know the correct timing of replacing their toothbrush. Using a single brush for months and years can lead to deteriorating oral health and will also spread bacterial infection. You might wonder what could be the right time to reject the current brush and bring up a new one instead.

A dentist at the Gulati Dental Clinic in Pitampura, New Delhi, Dr Vaibhav Gulati spoke to New18 and shared that people who have sensitive gums should always use soft-bristled brushes. If one’s oral health is naturally good and maintained, one can use medium brushes.

While detailing about changing the brush, Dr Gulati said that everyone should replace their toothbrush every two to three months. Additionally, they should also keep an eye on the condition of the brush, if it gets damaged by any means, then the brush should be replaced immediately.

To keep oral health maintained, everyone should brush their teeth twice a day, once in the morning and once at night before sleeping. This will keep the teeth clean and will reduce the chance of any oral disease as well.

Dr Gulati further said that people using the same brush for a longer time will encourage bacterial accumulation on the brush which can later spread inside the mouth while brushing. This will cause major harm to oral health and digestion as well. Apart from that, brushes that get damaged on being used for a longer time can result in harming the gums while brushing. Additionally, one should also be aware of the correct way of brushing their teeth as harsh brushing can also harm in several ways.
