Mirzapur 3: Munna Tripathi To Make A Comeback In Upcoming Season? Here's What The Makers Say – News18
Munna Tripathi aka Divyenndu Sharma to make a comeback in Mirzapur 3?
Mirzapur Producer Ritesh Sidhwani broke his silence around Munna Tripathi’s return in the upcoming season.
The eagerly awaited comeback of the engaging crime drama, Mirzapur, has been buzzing across conversations since the conclusion of its second season. The audience has been on the edge of their seats, anticipating the new season’s unfolding mysteries, especially after the makers teased the first look at a recent event. In the midst of the excitement, Ritesh Sidhwani from Excel Entertainment teased the resurgence of a fan-favorite character, Munna Tripathi.
At the Film Companion Front Row, amid an engaging conversation, Ritesh Sidhwani was probed about the likelihood of Munna Tripathi, played by Divyenndu, making a comeback in Mirzapur Season 3. Though it appeared unlikely at first, given the character’s departure in the last season, Sidhwani’s tease ignited fan speculation.
“Regrettably, Munna Tripathi can’t return to the series in the expected manner,” Sidhwani disclosed to the anticipatory crowd. Yet, he intriguingly hinted, “However, there’s something in the works that promises to reintroduce Munna to the audience in an interesting way. You’ll just have to wait and see,” he shared.
Divyenndu’s portrayal of the domineering gangster, Munna Tripathi, has been critically acclaimed, establishing him as a standout figure in Mirzapur. His unexpected exit in the second season left fans stunned and eager for more.
Meanwhile, in the teaser video of Mirzapur 3, Pankaj Tripathi’s Kaleen bhaiya asks, “Bhool toh nahi gaye humein? (Did you forget us?)”. The video also feature₹ the series’ cast members like Ali Fazal, Rasika Dugal, Vijay Varma, Shweta Tripathi, Isha Talwar and others. Mirzapur premiered in 2018, followed by a second season in 2020, with the highly-anticipated third season currently in the works.
At the event, Ali said that Mirzapur 3 will have the same “flavour” as its maiden season. He said that while the audience will be introduced to new characters, they will also bid goodbye to some of the old ones. He said that the third season will have more “masala”.
The plot of the show revolves around the iron-fisted Akhandanand Tripathi – a millionaire carpet exporter and the mafia don of Mirzapur – and his son Munna, an unworthy, power-hungry heir who will stop at nothing to inherit his father’s legacy. All hell breaks loose when a wedding procession forces him to cross paths with Ramakant Pandit, an upstanding lawyer, and his sons, Guddu and Bablu. Much like its predecessors, the third season of Mirzapur was also shot across Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow and Jaunpur.
