Anand Mahindra introduced his followers to a unique event called the Idli Premier League (IPL).
As the nation is currently high on the Indian Premier League cricket tournament fever, the Business tycoon is busy sharing his excitement about another “IPL” currently underway in Chennai. Interestingly, this IPL has nothing to do with the cricket match. Instead, it has a special connection with the much-loved South Indian dish, Idli.
Anand Mahindra, in his recent post on X, introduced Internet users to a unique event called the ‘Idli Premier League’ (IPL). He even praised the creative marketing approach of the restaurant which organised the event adding that he had already secured his “season tickets” for Sunday Idli home delivery. Mahindra wrote, “There’s no stopping Indian creativity in marketing… This ‘IPL’ gets the highest ratings on a Sunday morning. I’ve reserved my ‘season tickets’ for Sunday Idly home delivery… Let the games begin.”

The interesting event has been organised by Geetham Restaurants, a chain with several outlets across Chennai. The restaurant, with the inaugural of the creative event, hoped to promote its brand and offerings in the most engaging manner possible. The picture shared by the businessman suggests that the newly launched ‘IPL’ began on March 22 for the customers to participate and enjoy various fun activities linked with Idli. These activities include challenges and competition to eat and recognise various types of idli. The last date for this event is April 7.
Mahindra’s post garnered significant traction on social media with more than 10 lakh people viewing the same. Additionally, social media users seemed to approve of the creativeness of the restaurant. A user replied to his post asserting, “There is no dearth of creativity in India.” However, another wondered, “Chennai to Mumbai Idly delivery? Wow! Must be through private jet.”
“This idli corner must have hired IIM guys for marketing and selling idly,” added another one, sarcastically.
A few days back, the industrialist shared another video expressing his admiration for Dr Suresh Nambiar, a 73-year-old man with exceptional singing talent. Lauding him for his talent, Mahindra thanked him for “reminding us to give voice to our passions.” Despite the competition taking place several months ago, Mahindra shared the video recently as he was seemingly impressed with the vocal skills of Dr Nambiar.
