Question- How much struggle did Mayank have to face to reach here?
answer- I am originally from Supaul, Bihar. My entire family lives in Bihar. However, Mayank and my elder daughter were born in Delhi. We go to the village for marriages. We live in a rented house in Delhi.
At the age of 18, I came to Delhi with my friend's elder brother. Worked in a confectionery shop here. I also had to work in a hotel, tea shop and egg stall. Then I started a car watch manufacturing company, but that business sank during Corona. Now our company manufactures sirens for ambulances and police vehicles in Okhla.
Question- Why made Mayank a cricketer?
answer- In my childhood, I was also fond of playing cricket, but the circumstances were not such that I could fulfill my hobby. We were four brothers and two sisters. I was at number two. The condition of the house was not very good, due to which I had to go out of the house to work.
When Mayank was 4 years old, one day as it was a holiday on Sunday, I took him to the park. Children were playing cricket there. I asked Mayank will you play cricket? On this Mayank said- 'As per your wish.'
Then I put him in Rohtak Road Gymkhana Cricket Club. Gradually his interest increased and he started enjoying playing cricket. He enjoyed throwing the fast ball right from the beginning.
At the age of 16, I took her to Sonet Club. Coach Tarak Sinha took the trial there. There Tarak Sir along with Devendra Sharma and other coaches of the academy honed his talent.
Question- There is a lot of competition in cricket. In such a situation, apart from Mayank's cricket career, did you also think about Plan B?
answer- Mayank started bowling at a speed of 140 km per hour at the age of 16. His coaches Tarak Sir and Devendra Sir had said that Mayank has the ability to play for India and he will definitely get a chance in IPL and Ranji.
He got job offers from Air Force and Railways, but I refused. I felt that if he starts working, his dream of playing cricket for the country will not be fulfilled. He will deviate from his target. My coach and family were angry at this decision. He said what would happen if he did not get a chance from Delhi.
To this I clearly said that when I am there, he need not worry. Otherwise if something happens the business will take care of it. I had faith in him that if not today then tomorrow he would get a chance. Selection for LSG in 2022. When he got a chance from Delhi, he proved himself and now when he got a chance in IPL, he proved himself again. Last year he did not get a chance due to injury. I am sure that he will definitely get a chance to play for Team India also.
Question- If he bowls at a speed of 140, diet plays an important role in it, so does he take non-veg also for this?
answer- Mayank was thin since childhood. I used to give him non-veg, but now he does not eat non-veg for the last 4 years. He has become vegetarian. They fulfill the needs of the body by eating green vegetables and other things.
