ITA suspended Parveen for not giving test: Olympic quota invalid, BFI said – we have one more chance

Parveen has been banned for 22 months.

The International Testing Agency (ITA) has imposed a 22-month suspension on boxer Parveen Hooda, who has secured the 2024 Olympic quota for India in boxing. The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has announced that it has rejected the quota won by Parveen in the 57 KG category so that she can once again participate in the second World Olympic Qualifier. Now India will have another chance to achieve Olympic qualification in the women’s 57 KG category.

Parveen had won the bronze medal in the 2022 Asian Games and got India a quota in boxing for the 2024 Olympics. ITA has suspended Parveen for 22 months for not reporting her whereabouts three times in the last 12 months.

Hooda will not play the qualifiers, apart from him only one boxer will get a chance
In Hooda’s absence, India will be allowed to field only one boxer, who has already registered as a reserve for the qualifiers before April 11, 2024. There are only two boxers from India in this. Which is designated as reserve in 60 KG and 66 KG category. The matches are to be held in Bangkok next week.

Parveen has 1 medal each in Asian Games and World Championship.
