The murder happened seven years ago

Keshari Devi, resident of Khairatiya (Cat Markundi) village of Obra police station area, had filed a complaint in Obra police station. It was told in it that on September 30, 2016, she was present at the door of her house at 7.30 pm.

Then their landlord Babai Ram started abusing them due to children’s dispute and old rivalry. When he refused to abuse, Babai’s sons Rajkumar and Ashok Kumar also came and both of them started abusing.

Hearing the noise, her husband Ramchandra, son America Prasad and daughter-in-law Tarvanti Devi came to her rescue. Meanwhile, the accused started beating with sticks and kicks and punches while abusing and threatening to kill.

During this time, his son America Prasad suffered a head injury due to which he fell unconscious. Not only this, her husband Ramchandra suffered injuries on his hands and legs, her daughter-in-law Tarwanti Devi and she also suffered serious injuries.

People nearby came and saw the incident and intervened. Somehow I have come with my daughter-in-law to give information. On this complaint, the police registered an FIR and started investigating the case. Meanwhile, son America Prasad died during treatment. After getting sufficient evidence, a charge sheet was filed in the court against Babai Ram, Rajkumar, Ashok Kumar and Shivkumari.

Decision came after listening to both sides

During the hearing of the case, the court, after listening to the arguments of the advocates of both the parties, examining the statements and documents of the witnesses, found the accused Babai Ram guilty and sentenced him to 8 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of 6 months. Rajkumar, Ashok Kumar and Shivkumari were found guilty and sentenced to 6 months imprisonment each. The period spent in jail will be included in the sentence. The plaintiff will get 60 percent of the fine amount. District government advocate Gyanendra Sharan Roy argued on behalf of the prosecution.
