While talking to ICC Review, Ponting said, ‘I have seen many reports about the coach of Team India, in which it is being said that I will become the coach. Yes, I have had a face-to-face conversation about this during the IPL, so that I can know whether I am ready to take this position or not.
I would love to coach the national team, but if you work with the Indian team you cannot join an IPL team. I am associated with Delhi Capitals. Also, the job of a head coach is for 10 or 11 months a year. It is not fitting into my lifestyle right now. My family and my children have spent the last five weeks with me in the IPL and they come every year.
When I talked to my son about this, he said, just accept it. We would love to go to India for the next few years. We like living in India and its culture. But I want to give my time to my family.
