Priyansh along with Surekha Vennam entered the finals of the mixed team of Archery World Cup Stage-2.

The Indian mixed team reached the final in the compound event at the ongoing Archery World Cup Stage-2 in Yecheon, South Korea. With this, the second medal has been confirmed for India. Earlier on Wednesday, the women’s team had reached the final of the compound event.

On Friday, the pair of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Priyansh missed only 2 points out of 16 shots in the semi-finals of the compound mixed. The Indian pair entered the final by defeating the South Korean pair of Han Seungyeon and Yang Jaewon 158-157.

Jyoti and Priyansh will face Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan of the United States for the gold medal on Saturday. The American pair defeated Vietnam 159-152 in the semi-finals.

The world number one Indian women’s compound team has already reached the final of the Archery World Cup Stage-2. The trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Preneet Kaur and Aditi Swami defeated world number four team USA 233-229 in the semi-finals. This Indian trio had won the gold medal in the World Cup Stage-1 in Shanghai last month.

The Indian women’s team will now face world number seven Turkey in the gold medal match on Saturday. In the other semi-final, Turkey defeated South Korea 234-233. It was an easy journey for the Indian women’s team. After finishing second in the qualifying round, the team got a bye in the quarters. They defeated Italy 236-234 in the last eight.

Medal hopes remain intact in compound men’s singles
Young compound archer Prathamesh Phuge is also hoping for a medal by reaching the semi-finals in the individual category.
