Rafael Nadal, known as the King of Red Gravel, has been knocked out of the first round of the French Open. 14-time champion Nadal was defeated by fourth seed Alexander Zverev in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 and 6-3.
At the same time, India’s number-1 tennis player Sumit Nagal also had to face defeat in the first round. He was defeated by world number 18 player Karen Khachanov of Russia 6-2, 7-6, 6-0 in straight sets. Tsitsipas and Sinner won in other matches of men’s singles. Top seed Iga Swiatek and Naomi Osaka won in women’s singles.
Nadal-Zverev match lasted 3 hours
The first round match between 14-time champion Rafael Nadal and young star Alexander Zverev lasted for 3 hours and 5 minutes. It was a close contest. Zverev won the first set 6-3 and took the lead in the match. The second set of the match was more exciting. In this, both the stars were seen fighting for every point. Zverev doubled his lead by winning this set 7-6. The third set was a do or die for Nadal, but he could not save it and lost 3-6.
The two last met in the semi-finals of the French Open 2022, with Zverev withdrawing from that match due to an ankle injury.

After 5 years an Indian reached the main draw, Prajnesh participated in 2019
World number 94 Nagal had received direct entry into the main draw of the Grand Slam after his consistent performance this year. After 5 years an Indian player became a part of the main draw of the French Open. Earlier in 2019, after Prajnesh Gunneswaran qualified for the main draw of the French Open.
Nagal defeated Alexander Bublik in the first round of the Australian Open this year. Then he won the Chennai Open and made it to the top-100 in the ATP rankings.

Sinner and Tsitsipas in the second round
Number-2 players J. Sinner and S. Tsitsipas have also started with a win. In the first round, Italy’s Sinner defeated America’s C. Eubanks 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. At the same time, 9th seed S. Tsitsipas defeated M. Fucsovics 7-6, 6-4 and 6-1.

Japan’s Naomi Osaka has won the French Open after 3 years, top seed Iga Swiatek also entered the second round. Osaka, who returned from a 15-month maternity leave, defeated Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 in 3 sets. She had lost in the first round of the Australian Open in January. Polish star Iga Swiatek defeated France’s Leolia Jeanjean in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
