A question that is often posed in front of many founders and philanthropists is, ‘What is the definition of success for them?’. While most people around the world judge an individual’s success by their net worth and lavish lifestyle, that’s not the case with streaming giant Netflix’s co-founder, Marc Randolph. Recently, the 66-year-old Netflix co-founder took to social media to reveal his definition of success. The serial entrepreneur emphasised the significance of balancing personal and professional commitments. He also revealed that he has given a lot of importance to relations in his life. His post has received varied reactions from users on social media.

Marc Randolph is the co-founder of Netflix and six other companies. The entrepreneur took to X (formerly Twitter) and expressed that for him, success is maintaining the right balance between personal and professional life. He also added that having a strong marriage is also an indicator of a successful life for him. He explained that for the past 30 years, he has never scheduled a meeting after 5 pm on Tuesdays, as it is a time that is reserved for his wife. Marc and his wife, Lorraine Kiernan Randolph, got married in 1987 and consider a long-lasting marriage an indicator of a successful life.

“I’ve worked hard for my entire career to keep my life balanced with my job. In my book, I write about my Tuesday date nights with my wife. For over thirty years, I had a hard cut-off on Tuesdays. Rain or shine, I left at exactly 5 p.m. and spent the evening with my best friend. We would go to a movie, have dinner, or just go window-shopping downtown together,” Marc Randolph wrote.

One of the users wrote, “Not losing value for family while building is the biggest test of a successful founder.
