Schools To Remain Closed Due To Severe Heatwaves In These States – News18


In UP, the summer vacation will continue till June 18.

After reports emerged of a huge number of students falling sick, the Bihar education department decided to keep all the government and private institutions closed until June 8.

Due to the severe heat, several state governments have decided to close all government and private schools. Heatwave alerts have been sounded in various parts of the country. Keeping in mind the safety of the children this decision was taken. Let us look at the list of states that have taken the decision:

Bihar: After reports emerged of a huge number of students falling sick, the education department of Bihar has decided to keep all the government and private institutions closed until June 8. Reports indicate that this measure was taken after a discussion between the Chief Secretary of the state and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department. Following the meeting, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued a notification to all the district officials and instructed them to suspend all educational activities for the time being.

Rajasthan: The Rajasthan education department has earlier announced the summer vacations for all schools. The summer vacation started on May 17 and is set to continue till June 30. All the schools in the state are instructed not to hold any extra classes or activities keeping in mind the intense heat.

Madhya Pradesh: Due to this scorching heat the education department of Madhya Pradesh decided to extend the summer vacations till June 30 due to the unbearable heat. Earlier, the education department announced that the summer vacation will start from May 1 and continue till June 15.

Uttar Pradesh: In Uttar Pradesh, the summer vacation started on May 18 and is set to continue till June 18. The principals of the schools have asked the teachers to assign homework so that students stay engaged with their studies during the holidays. The school has also asked the parents to contact the teachers in case of any information regarding the studies.

Delhi: As per the academic calendar, summer vacations for the schools in Delhi began on May 11 and are set to continue till June 30. Considering the severe heatwave this year, the government decided to allot a 50-day long summer vacation.
