In Lucknow’s Ashiana area, a thief stole jewelry and money on the pretext of making a key for a cupboard. Police registered a case on Friday. The accused’s picture has been recorded in CCTV. Police said investigation is ongoing.

Sector H resident Mamta Sonkar lives here with her family. Mamta said that on the morning of 23rd May, a hawker came on a bicycle and called for a key to be made. The key of the cupboard in the house was faulty. We called him to get it made.
On the pretext of making a key, he ran away with the jewellery and Rs 20,000 cash kept in the cupboard. This was discovered later when the cupboard was opened.
The accused’s picture has been captured in the CCTV camera. Police said investigation is underway and the details will be revealed soon.
Mamta said that the accused was wearing a cream coloured shirt and khaki pants, had a black cloth turban on his head, had a light beard and was carrying a bag. His body was lean. The CCTV camera installed in the neighbourhood has also recorded the photo of the person coming and going in the house.
According to the police, after getting information about the theft, the victim has lodged a complaint at the local police station as well as filed an online report. Inspector Chhatrapal Singh said that a case of theft has been registered and the thief is being searched on the basis of CCTV footage.
