The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of stray dog attacks. The court asked the Lucknow Municipal Corporation what problems are being faced in solving the problem. What measures are being taken to avoid or prevent stray dog attacks.

The court asked where the problem is in ending this problem. The court has asked to file an affidavit and reply on the next date. The court has fixed the second week of July for hearing the case.
This order was passed by the division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Om Prakash Shukla after hearing the suo motu case. Along with this, the court has ordered the senior registrar to register the case as a suo motu PIL under the name ‘Threat from stray dogs’.
During the hearing, the lawyers placed before the court the news published in newspapers in which two children died while trying to escape from stray dogs in Vikas Nagar area.
The court took suo motu cognizance of the matter and also mentioned other such reports. During the hearing, Additional Advocate General Kuldeep Pati Tripathi, appearing on behalf of the government, told the court that stray dogs are being sterilized or vaccinated under the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023.
When the Government Advocate told the court, the court asked him that what will happen if the sterilized and vaccinated dogs bite people and if this happens, what measures are being taken to stop them.
If it starts biting people, what measures are being taken in this regard. At the same time, the court said that the authorities should take this problem seriously along with other problems.
