The series of encounters between the police and criminals has now started in the capital. In this connection, Thakurganj police arrested a history-sheeter by shooting him in the leg near Bari Barauni village under Operation Langda on late Saturday night.

It is being told that the history sheeter who was caught by the police had committed the crime of chain snatching from a woman. Since then the police was continuously searching for the accused.

A pistol was found near the miscreant.

According to DCP West Dr. Durgesh Kumar, on Friday, the police had registered an FIR in the case of snatching from a woman under Thakurganj police station. Investigation was being done to identify the suspected accused in the CCTV footage.

On Saturday evening around 8:30, the police personnel saw a suspicious person coming on a bike near Bari Barauni village. When the police team signaled him to stop, he turned the bike and tried to run away. When the police team chased him, the miscreant opened fire.

In the retaliatory action of the police, the miscreant got injured after being shot in the leg. The police team caught him. The accused has been identified as Bablu alias Kaleem. There are about 18 criminal cases registered against Bablu under various sections including robbery, murder. The miscreant is a history sheeter of Indiranagar.
