Shanvi Sonkar, a class 6 student in Prayagraj, has done wonders. Shanvi, a 12-year-old resident of Mundera, swam across the Yamuna river in just 17 minutes. Shanvi is a class 6 student in Girls High School. The city residents are proud of her achievement.

During summer vacations in school, Shanvi joined a swimming club to learn swimming. She says that after just one week of training, she swam across the Yamuna river in just 17 minutes. Shanvi started swimming from Bargad Ghat in Mirapur and completed the swim by swimming till Sindhu Sagar Ghat and Kakra Ghat towards Naini.

The family stayed together in the boat for safety, truth and recording
When Shanvi started crossing the Yamuna river by swimming, her father Sanjay Sonkar, mother Sunita Sonkar, Pankaj Singh, Nivedita Singh, Alok Verma, Sandeep Gupta, Parmendra Vishwakarma kept walking in the boat attached to her. Other people present on the boat kept clapping and encouraging Shanvi. Experts say that the length of the Yamuna river is about 600 meters and the depth is about 25 feet.
Trainer Tribhuvan Nishad told that every year, with the help of Kamala Nishad and Limca Book of Record holder Manas Nishad, he trains hundreds of children in swimming through the swimming club at the Banyan Ghat in Mirapur.
From this year, we are teaching swimming to children through the club to promote Khelo India. Shanvi is in high spirits. She is very happy with this achievement.
