The culvert of the drain situated on the border of Nagar Panchayat Zafarabad and Gram Panchayat Goda Khas village of Zafarabad police station area of Jaunpur broke on Monday morning. A young girl passing through the culvert got seriously injured after being buried under the debris. The villagers removed the debris of the culvert and rescued the girl.

The accident happened while returning home after filling water in a bucket
The 17 year-old daughter of Ashwani Kumar, a resident of Jiya Patti of Goda Khas village, was returning home from the Rajbhar Basti of Nagar Panchayat Jafarabad on the other side of the border through the culvert due to salty water in the village. As soon as she reached the culvert, the culvert broke. The girl got buried under the debris 10 feet below. Some people of the village saw it. On hearing the noise, the villagers reached the spot. The girl buried under the debris was taken out in an injured condition. The girl has been admitted to a private hospital in the district headquarters in critical condition.
This culvert is the only way to connect Jiyapatti and Nagar Panchayat. Due to the collapse of the culvert, the main road has been closed. The culvert was built 30 years ago from the Gram Panchayat funds.

The village head accused the secretary of demanding commission regarding the culvert
The culvert has been dilapidated for a long time. The people of the Gram Panchayat have requested for the repair of the culvert by giving applications to the village head and other responsible people several times in the last one year. On this subject, the village head Krishna Murari Saroj said that the money for building the culvert is lying in the fund for the last one year. The secretary is not letting the work be done due to commission. He directly accused him of demanding 50% commission. Secretary Ramakrishna Pal rejected the allegations of the village head. He said that I am ready to give permission in writing to do this work.
