Ayodhya Faizabad Lok Sabha Election Result; BJP Candidate Lallu Singh | Awadesh Prasad | How did BJP lose Ayodhya: Failed to gauge the pulse of the issue on which it contested elections across the country; Mistake or some other reason – Ayodhya News
BJP has also faced defeat in Faizabad Lok Sabha seat which has become the hottest seat of UP. Even after the consecration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, this defeat of BJP surprised everyone. After Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maximum focus was on this seat.
,
This defeat of BJP reminded us of the 1993 assembly elections in UP. At that time, SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP’s Kashiram had come together in the assembly elections. A similar situation was seen this time too. Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi came together in the political arena of UP and BJP had to face the biggest defeat in the last decade.
In such a situation many questions are arising. First- After all, what were the shortcomings of BJP in Ayodhya? Second- What strategy did Akhilesh Yadav make, due to which people rejected the BJP candidate? third- Was the caste equation loaded on the issue of development? Read the full report…
The first picture is of the winning SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad and the second is of the silence prevailing at the house of BJP candidate Lallu Singh.
1- Split in BJP, BSP divided votes
BJP made Lallu Singh, who has been winning for two times, its candidate here. But, in the storm of Ram Mandir, the feedback of the workers was not taken. This was the reason why young leaders like Sachchidanand Pandey broke away from BJP. Sachchidanand joined BSP on 12 March, 6 days before the announcement of elections. After this, he was given a ticket from here. Sachchidanand, who contested the elections, got more than 40 thousand votes.
2- Gave more importance to Ram Mandir, forgot local issues
A- People are angry due to land acquisition: After the Ram Mandir, the most discussed issue in Ayodhya was that of land acquisition. Here the road was widened from the new ghat to the Ramlala temple. Houses and shops on both sides of the road were demolished. Land of many people was acquired. People who had settled here for centuries lost their homes. Experts believe that there was resentment among the public over the way land was acquired for the development of Ayodhya.
B- He was an MP twice but did not get any work done: Lallu Singh was an MP in 2014 and 2019. But, he neither reached out to the public nor showed interest in development work. He was contesting the elections only on the face of PM Modi. Apart from this, the issue of inflation and unemployment also seemed to be working.
Awadhesh Prasad reached the Collectorate after taking out a nomination procession in Ayodhya.
3. Lallu Singh’s statement became a big issue
A statement by Lallu Singh was very popular on social media. In this he said- BJP needs 400 seats because it has to change the constitution. Akhilesh and Rahul Gandhi put this statement in front of everyone in such a way that if BJP crosses 400, then it can change the constitution. However, later Modi said to do damage control- even if Baba Saheb Ambedkar himself comes down, the constitution cannot be changed. But damage control could not be done with this statement.
Now let’s know Akhilesh’s strategy
This is a picture of May 18, when Akhilesh addressed a public meeting for SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad from Faizabad Lok Sabha seat.
First strategy: Focus on rural areas more than cities
Akhilesh Yadav and the local SP organization focused the most on the rural areas in Ayodhya. Akhilesh himself held two election rallies here, one in Milkipur and the other in Bikapur. Both these tehsils are in rural areas.
Akhilesh Yadav did not comment on Ram Mandir here, but he definitely made the villagers aware of the problems being faced in the city. He connected people with emotional attachment on issues like land acquisition, compensation, jobs for youth. The feedback from the local unit was also that there is resentment against BJP leaders in the entire rural area of Ayodhya. Akhilesh tried his best to cash in on this.
Second strategy: BJP candidates got entangled in caste equations
In Ayodhya Lok Sabha constituency, OBC is 22%, Dalit 21%, Muslim 19%, Thakur 6%, Brahmin 18% and Vaishya is close to 10%. Akhilesh Yadav strengthened the Dalit, Muslim and OBC combination by adopting his PDA formula. If we look at the caste equations here, in 2014, Lallu Singh defeated Mitrasen Yadav by 2 lakh 82 thousand votes in the Modi wave. Then the BSP candidate got 1 lakh 41 thousand votes and Congress’s Nirmal Khatri got 1 lakh 29 thousand votes. In the last election, when SP and BSP came together, this difference had reduced. This time Dalit, OBC and Muslim votes went towards SP.
Third Strategy: Muslims were united
The Congress and SP alliance was not successful in the 2017 assembly elections, but it worked in the Lok Sabha elections this time. The Muslim vote united and went in favor of the Indi alliance. At the same time, the Indi alliance was successful in dividing the Hindu vote with the help of which BJP was getting victory. BSP’s Dalit vote, OBC and Brahmin and Thakur votes’s displeasure were also a reason due to which BJP suffered a big setback.
Caste equations outweigh development
68 years old seat, 7 times won by Congress… 4 times occupied by BJP
The first Lok Sabha election was held in Faizabad seat in 1957. Since then, Congress has won here 7 times and BJP 4 times. Apart from this, SP, BSP and Bharatiya Lok Dal have also won from here. However, BJP has retained control over Faizabad seat for the last ten years i.e. for two times.
