Let us tell you that there was a face-to-face contest between the BJP candidate and the Congress candidate. Initially, when the postal ballots were counted, Shashank Mani Tripathi was left behind by Akhilesh Pratap Singh. But as soon as the counting of EVM votes began, Shashank Mani Tripathi started gaining lead over the Congress candidate which continued till the 30th round.

However, there were several rounds when the difference between the votes of both the candidates was only a thousand and fifteen hundred. The BJP candidate got a total of 504541 votes. Whereas the Congress candidate could get only 469699 votes. Thus, BJP candidate Shashank Mani Tripathi won by 34842 votes and got the privilege of becoming an MP on his father’s seat after 20 years. Meanwhile, Congress candidate Akhilesh Pratap Singh alleged irregularities in the counting of votes. He said that there is a big difference between the votes shown on the Election Commission’s website and those which are being declared. The exit polls have been proven wrong.

8.8 am- Counting of postal ballots has started in Deoria. India Alliance’s Congress candidate Akhilesh Pratap Singh is leading in Pathardewa Assembly. After this, counting of ballots will begin at 8.30 pm.

Counting of votes for the three Lok Sabha seats in Deoria district will begin at 8 o’clock. Postal ballots will be counted first. Deoria Sadar, Basgaon and Salempur Lok Sabha seats fall in the district. Counting of votes for seven assembly constituencies is being done.

14 tables have been set up for each assembly constituency. Two counting centres have been set up for this. The counting of votes of Rudrapur, Barhaj, Salempur and Bhatpar Rani assembly constituencies will be done at Maharaja Agrasen Inter College in the heart of the city. Salempur reserved and Bhatpar Rani assembly constituencies come under Salempur Lok Sabha constituency.

Rudrapur and Barhaj assembly constituencies fall under Bansgaon reserved Lok Sabha constituency. Counting of votes for Deoria Sadar Legislative Assembly constituency, Rampur Karkhana Legislative Assembly and Pathardeva Legislative Assembly will take place at the counting centre set up at Deoria Senior Secondary School on Deoria Gorakhpur Road.
