In the year 1972, the United Nations held a conference in Stockholm. The issue of this conference was environmental protection. It was believed in the meeting that for the protection of the environment, it is important to make people aware of the damages being caused to the environment. It was decided in the meeting that World Environment Day will be celebrated all over the world on 5 June every year, and this day will be dedicated to the care of nature.
World Environment Day was celebrated for the first time in the year 1974. Since then, this day is celebrated every year with different themes. This year the theme of World Environment Day is Land Restoration, Desertification And Drought Resilience i.e Land restoration, resilience to desertification and drought.

Do 3 year graduation in agriculture
There are three processes for graduation in agriculture (B.Sc. AG) in various colleges or universities of the country. Only students who have passed 12th from science stream or in agriculture can apply for B.Sc. AG.
- Admission through ICAR AIEEA (UG)
- Admission through state level entrance exam
- ICAR Admission Without AIEEA
Students can take admission in agricultural universities across the country by appearing in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research All India Entrance Examination for Admission (ICAR AIEEA). Apart from this, students can take admission in agricultural universities by clearing state level entrance exams. Such as – MP-PAT for Madhya Pradesh, UPCATET for Uttar Pradesh, MHT-CET for Maharashtra and TJEE for Tripura etc. Some agricultural colleges and universities also offer direct admission on the basis of marks in 12th.

Top government jobs in agriculture sector –
There are many opportunities for government jobs in the agriculture sector as well. Candidates can get jobs by clearing various exams.
1. Agriculture Field Officer –
For this, the candidate must be a graduate in agriculture field. Its examination is conducted through IBPS.
2. District Sugarcane Officer (District Sugarcane Officer) –
For this, the candidate must be a graduate in agriculture field.
3. District Horticulture Officer –
For this, the candidate must have a B.Tech degree in agriculture field. The State Public Service Commission conducts the exam for this post.
4. Assistant Agriculture Officer –
Every year the exam is conducted through the State Subordinate Selection Commission. For this, the candidate must be a graduate in the agriculture field.
5. Agriculture Development Officer –
For this, the candidate must have a B.Tech degree in agriculture field.
6. Agriculture Extension Officer –
The candidate must have a B.Sc. AG degree. Apart from this, in some states, a B.Tech. degree in Agriculture is also required.
7. Agriculture Officer –
Candidate must have M.Sc. degree in Agriculture.
8. Indian Forest Officer –
The candidate must have a B.Sc. AG degree. Apart from this, candidates with a B.Tech. degree in any stream can also apply for this.
9. Professor of Agriculture –
For this post, the candidate must have completed PhD + NET or M.Sc + NET.
10. Agriculture Scientist –
For this, one must have a PhD degree. Apart from this, the candidate has to appear for the Agriculture Research Exam conducted by the Agriculture Scientist Board.
11. Director General of Agriculture –
For this also, one must have a PhD degree. Apart from this, the candidate has to appear for the Agriculture Research Exam conducted by the Agriculture Scientist Board.
There are also job opportunities in agritech startups
According to the data of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry in India, there are a total of 6,224 registered agriculture startups in the country as of 31 October 2023. There are also job opportunities in these startups.
There are immense job opportunities in the private sector as well.
In the financial year 2023-24, the Ministry of Agriculture will get a budget of Rs 1.25 lakh crore
During the speech in the interim budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana has benefited 38 lakh farmers and generated 10 lakh jobs. Apart from this, 2.4 lakh self-help groups and 60 thousand people were assisted through credit under the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme.
At the same time, in the Union Budget for the financial year 2023-24, the Finance Minister had allocated Rs 1.25 lakh crore to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, including agricultural education and research.
