Recently QS World Ranking 2025 was released. Every year London based higher education analyst company QS releases the ranking of universities at the global level. This time IIT Bombay is ranked first in the country and 118th in the world in the QS ranking.
Two IITs among top 150 global universities in the world
After this, IIT Delhi is at number 150. There are two IITs from India in the list of top 150 global universities in the world. Last year, Delhi University was ranked 407. This year the university has achieved 328 rank after increasing by 79 ranks. There are a total of 7 IITS in the top 10 institutes of India in the QS World Ranking 2025. Compared to last year, the ranking of IIT Bombay has increased by 31 ranks while the ranking of IIT Delhi has increased by 47 ranks.
Prime Minister said – Indian institutes have improved by 318%
Regarding the QS ranking, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that in the last 10 years, India’s educational institutes have improved the most among the G20 countries by 318%. Its direct impact is visible in India’s performance in the QS World Ranking. PM Modi has congratulated all the students, teachers and the entire educational infrastructure.
This time in Top Colleges, we will know about the Indian Universities included in QS Ranking apart from IITs.
1. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
IISc has more than 40 academic departments. Around 4000 students study and do research here simultaneously. All the departments of the institute come under the Science or Engineering Faculty. The institute has units like Center for Infectious Disease Research, Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology, Department of Civil Engineering, Center for Climate Change in departments like Biological Sciences, Mechanical Sciences, Electrical Sciences.
Courses: You can take admission in two-year Masters of Science (MSc) Life Sciences and Chemical Sciences programs at the institute. Apart from this, you can also take admission in MTech, MTech Research, PhD
This is how you will get admission: You can take admission in any research and PhD program through IIT JAM or JEST exam.
IISc Bangalore was established on 27 May 1909.
2. University of Delhi (DU) Delhi University is a central university. There are 77 colleges and 5 institutions affiliated with the university. DU colleges are divided into North Campus and South Campus. Department of Finance and Business Economics started in DU in 2019. At the same time, studies are being done in the Department of Commerce since 1967.
Courses: Delhi University has 15 departments like Applied Social Sciences and Humanities, Management Studies, Social Sciences, Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences, Technology and Law.
This is how you will get admission: To get admission in DU colleges, it is necessary to qualify exams like CUET UG and CUET PG. After the exam, you can register on the DU CSAS portal for counseling. Admission will be given on the basis of the cut-off score of the colleges. It is necessary to qualify CAT for admission in MBA course.
Delhi University was established in 1922.
3. Anna University, Chennai
Anna University has 18 different departments like Science, English, Media Sciences and Management. A total of 29 UG and 90 PG programs are offered in the university. Apart from this, you can do 41 UG and 57 PG programs in institutions affiliated to the university.
Courses : The university has 5 different engineering faculties – Technology, Electrical Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering. You can take admission in UG courses from here in Geo Informatics, Marine Engineering, Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Plastic, Textile, Fashion and Petroleum Engineering. You can also do PG courses in these departments.
Admission will be given like this: For admission in UG courses, you can take admission on the basis of 12th marks. The university prepares its own merit list. Whereas, for admission in PG courses, it is necessary to take GATE or TANCET.
The Anna University campus is spread over an area of 189 acres. Apart from this, 20 research centers are attached to the regional and satellite campuses of the university.
4. Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi
JNU is a central university. Studies are conducted in different University Teaching Departments (UTDs). The university also has 20 dedicated schools and research centers for specialized programs. In JNU, you can take admission in undergraduate courses only in School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Sanskrit and Indic Sciences and School of Engineering. Apart from this, for humanities subjects, you can take admission for post graduation in departments like School of International Studies and School of Social Sciences.
Courses : You can study humanities from departments like School of International Studies, School of Social Sciences, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies in the university. You can do courses like MA in Politics and International Studies, MA in World Economy in School of International Studies.
From the School of Social Sciences, you can take admission in a total of 12 courses like MA in Ancient History, Modern History, Geography, Philosophy. From the School of Languages, you can take admission in 20 courses like French and Francophone Studies, MA in German Translation, Hindi Translation, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Pashto, Linguistics.
Admission will be given like this: You can take admission in these courses on the basis of CUET PG score.
JNU was established on 22 April 1969.
5. Shoolini University of Biotechnology, Solan
It is a UGC and AICTE approved private university. The university also has tie-ups with 190 global universities. The university has 13 different departments.
Courses: You can do courses like BCom, BDes, BTech, BPharm, BCA at UG level and LL, MPharm, MTech, MCA, MSc at PG level in the university. The university also has PhD and minor degree programs.
This is how you will get admission: You can take admission in the university after qualifying exams like NEET, JEE, CLAT, SAT, CAT, MAT, JRF, NET.
The university was established in 2009.
6. Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune
This is a state university of the Maharashtra government. There are 705 colleges affiliated to this university. There are 46 teaching departments here. It is also known as the Oxford of the East. There are about 307 research institutes in the university. The university has departments like Science and Technology, Commerce and Management and Humanities.
Courses : One can take admission in graduation, post graduation and research programs in departments like Electronic Science, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Marathi, Hindi, English, History, Law from the university.
Admission will be given like this: After 12th, you can take admission in this university through online entrance exam.
Savitribai Phule Pune University was established in 1949.
7. Symbiosis International Deemed University, Pune
Symbiosis International is a private deemed university. The university has departments like Law, Management, Computer Studies, Medical Health and Sciences, Media and Communication, Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering.
Courses : You can do UG and PG courses in all these departments from the university.
Admission will be given like this: You can take admission in these programs through Symbiosis Admission Test.
The university was established in 1971.
8. Chandigarh University, Chandigarh
This is a private university. It has departments like Engineering, Management, Animation and Multimedia, Arts and Humanities, Economics, Hotel and Hospitality Management.
Courses : You can take admission in graduation, post graduation and research programs from all these departments.
Admission will be given like this: You can take admission in all these courses on the basis of CUCET University Entrance Test.
9. University of Mumbai, Mumbai
It is a state university of the Maharashtra government. Mumbai University has departments like Humanities, Science and Technology, Commerce, Law and Management and Physical Education.
Courses : You can take admission in graduation and post graduation courses from all these departments.
Admission will be given like this: Here you can take admission after 12th on MHT-CET or merit basis.
The University of Mumbai was established in 1857.
10. Jadavpur University, Kolkata
Jadavpur University offers studies in Arts, Engineering and Technology and Science streams. Apart from this, there are also law and management schools here. This is a state university of West Bengal.
Jadavpur University was established in 1955.
Courses : You can do a total of 16 UG courses, 35 PG courses and PhD courses in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the university. Apart from this, you can also do UG Evening 5 Year and PG Evening 3 Year courses here.
From here you can do BE/BTech courses in 14 different branches like Construction Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Information Engineering, Food Technology and Bio-Chemical Engineering.
