1. Prem Singh Tamang became the Chief Minister of Sikkim
On June 10, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) leader Prem Singh Tamang took oath as the Chief Minister of Sikkim. State Governor Laxman Acharya administered the oath to him and cabinet ministers at the Pawjor Stadium in the capital Gangtok. Prem Singh Tamang has been winning the Sikkim Assembly elections for five consecutive times since 1994.

Prem Singh Tamang was born on 5 February 1968.

2. Amit Shah became Home Minister in Modi 3.0 Cabinet. On June 10, at 6:30 pm, the division of departments in the Modi government was done. Amit Shah once again got the Home Ministry and Rajnath Singh once again became the Defense Minister. Nirmala Sitharaman has been given the Finance Ministry. 3. Pooja Tomar became UFC champion
On June 8, India’s Pooja Tomar became the first Indian fighter to win the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In America, Pooja defeated Brazil’s Reyno dos Santos in her debut fight. Pooja won 30-27, 27-30 and 29-28 in the 52 kg weight category. Pooja Tomar is known as ‘Cyclone’ in the UFC.

4. Carlos Alcaraz wins French Open
On June 9, Spanish star tennis player Carlos Alcaraz won the men’s singles title at the French Open 2024. Alcaraz defeated Germany’s Alexander Zverev 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. Carlos Alcaraz has won the third Grand Slam title. Earlier, he has won the US Open in 2022 and the Wimbledon title in 2023.

21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz has won the first French Open of his career.

5. Sub-Lieutenant Anamika becomes the first woman helicopter pilot
On June 8, a passing out parade was held at INS Rajali in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu. In this, Sub Lieutenant Anamika B Rajeev was awarded the graduation degree of helicopter pilot.

Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendhakar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, presented the graduation degree to Anamika B Rajeev.

1. Petition in Supreme Court for NEET UG re-exam, allegation- someone’s answer sheet was found torn

The controversy over grace marks of NEET-UG exam has now reached the Supreme Court. A petition has demanded withdrawal of the result and re-conduct of the examination. The petition states that giving grace marks in the result is an arbitrary decision of NTA. There is no mathematical basis for giving 718 or 719 marks to students.

Apart from this, new complaints of irregularities in the exam are also coming to the fore. A user Pratik Aryan has shared the board marksheet and NEET scorecard of a student named Anjali Patel in his tweet. In the board marksheet, Anjali has failed in Physics and Chemistry while in the NEET result she has got 705 marks out of 720.

On June 14, Aayushi Patel from Lucknow shared her video in which she alleged that her OMR sheet was intentionally damaged. Due to this, her result was not generated on the site on June 4. Apart from this, for these irregularities in NEET, NTA has appointed Pradeep Kumar Joshi, the chairman of its own governing body, as the chairman of the investigation panel.

In this regard, a top official of the Ministry of Education clarified that Joshi is undoubtedly the chairman of the NTA governing body, but he is also a renowned educationist and expert in competitive examinations. In such a situation, his selection is appropriate. The remaining three members of the committee are from outside the NTA.

2. CBSE Board advised students to avoid wrong information
CBSE Board has issued an advisory regarding CBSE’s wrong syllabus, resources, sample papers and question papers. The board has warned students to avoid false news circulating on the internet. CBSE said that old or wrong sample papers, syllabus etc. are available on many websites. These websites are claiming that all these are updated, whereas it is not so. To avoid such wrong information, students can visit the board’s official website cbseacademic.nic.in.

3. Dharmendra Pradhan again got the education department
Dharmendra Pradhan will once again handle the education ministry in the new cabinet of the Modi government. At the same time, Jayant Chaudhary of RLD has been made the State Education Minister. Along with this, Jayant Chaudhary has been given independent charge of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. In his previous tenure as Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan implemented the government’s ambitious National Education Policy i.e. NEP 2020.
