During duty in a pipe company in Secunderabad industrial area, a heavy iron coil fell on the worker due to the breakage of the crane chain. Both the legs of the worker were cut due to being crushed under it. The injured worker in critical condition has been admitted to a higher center for treatment.

Dharmendra Yadav, son of Bhishm Singh, a resident of village Bodha in the area, works as a crane helper in Apollo Metallics Private Limited Unit-3 near cut number four in the industrial area. On Thursday evening around 7:30 pm, Dharmendra, along with other workers in the company, was taking a heavy iron coil to another place with the help of a crane.
During this, the chain of the crane suddenly broke and a heavy coil fell on Dharmendra. Dharmendra’s both legs were cut and he was seriously injured due to being crushed under it. The fellow workers present on the spot somehow lifted the heavy coil from Dharmendra and moved it aside. The victim was admitted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Here, seeing his condition critical, the doctors referred him to the higher center, Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida, where he is undergoing treatment.

Management accused of negligence
As soon as the information was received, the villagers along with the victim’s family reached outside the company’s gate with a tractor trolley and created a ruckus accusing the company management of negligence. The villagers were demanding action against those concerned for the negligence and financial assistance for the victim. Meanwhile, the leaders of political parties along with the workers of the farmers’ organization also reached the company’s gate and started demanding that the company management be called to the spot. When they did not arrive on the spot, the people present reached the gate to enter the company premises, but the security personnel present at the gate stopped them from going inside. At this the villagers started creating a ruckus again. Kotwali Inspector Ravi Ratan Singh, Naib Tehsildar Nanhe Khan also reached the spot.
People left for the village with tractor-trolley
Seeing the uproar increasing, the company management called the family members of the victim, people from political parties and people from the farmers’ organization inside for talks. After hours of talks, at around three o’clock, the company management gave a written assurance of providing financial assistance of Rs 20 lakhs to the family members of the victim and paying the expenses for the treatment of the injured after a week. After this, the villagers left for the village with the tractor trolley. Company’s GM Sushil Sharma said that the accident occurred when the iron coil fell on the worker due to the chain breaking. The family members of the victim have been assured of financial help. Kotwali inspector Ravi Ratan Singh said that action will be taken after receiving a complaint from the family members of the victim.
