Devotees are feeling sad after seeing the canal of Ram ki Paidi without water.

The canal of Ram ki Paidi adjacent to the Saryu river bank of Ayodhya has become waterless. The devotees visiting Ayodhya are troubled due to its drying up. It is being said that silt has accumulated at the bottom of the canal and it has been closed for cleaning. The cleaning work etc. is expected to be completed in about a week.

During the scorching heat, Ram Ki Paidi has been the main center of attraction for the devotees coming from outside. From 7 am to 10 pm, around 50 thousand devotees have been getting relief from the heat by bathing in Ram Ki Paidi. Due to the shallow depth of its canal, women and children also bathe in it for hours.

The canal silt is cleaned two to three times every year

The water of Saryu river is filtered and pumped into the canal of Ram ki Paidi. Along with it comes the sand of Saryu which gets deposited in the canal instead of going ahead with the flow of water. That is why the silt of the canal is cleaned two to three times every year. Saryu Jayanti celebrations are to begin next week. Before that it is being cleaned. Saryu Aarti priest Yogendra Pandey said that it is cleaned regularly so that devotees get clean water for bathing.

On the other hand, due to the drying up of the canal, the crowd of devotees that used to stay all day at Ram Ki Paidi is missing. Even those who are reaching here are not staying. The shopkeepers and Saryu priests in the vicinity are also affected by this. However, people are enjoying bathing comfortably in the holy water of Saryu.
