Communicable Disease Control Campaign and Dastak Campaign will be run in the entire state from July to spread awareness about vector-borne diseases, communicable diseases and brain fever. Yogi government will run Communicable Disease Control Campaign from July 1 to July 31 and Dastak Campaign from July 11 to July 31 across the state.

Activities report has to be made available

In compliance with the guidelines given by Urban Development, the Urban Bodies Directorate has asked all Municipal Commissioners, General Managers of Jal Sansthan and Executive Officers of Nagar Palika Parishad to implement the action plan in accordance with these instructions. Also, sensitization meetings have been scheduled for Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and all Nagar Panchayats and all urban bodies have been instructed to provide a microplan of the activities to be conducted body-wise and ward-wise for the special communicable disease control campaign to the Chief Medical Officer at the district level by June 28. As per this microplan, the urban bodies have also been instructed to provide a compiled report regarding the work done and activities completed during the campaign to the government.

Continuous awareness campaigns should be carried out

According to the guidelines given to the urban bodies, sensitization of the officers and employees of the urban bodies should be done with the help of the health department regarding prevention of brain fever and other vector-borne diseases, waterborne diseases and cleanliness. Continuous awareness should be established about brain fever and other vector-borne diseases, waterborne diseases through Mohalla Surveillance Committees in the urban areas. Also, fogging in urban areas, intensive vector control and sensitization activities are included at the places mentioned in the list of high risk areas provided by the health department. Apart from this, guidelines have also been given that awareness campaigns should be conducted in urban areas for environmental and personal hygiene measures, not defecating in the open, use of pure drinking water and prevention of mosquitoes. Also, arrangements should be made to cover open drains, get drains and garbage cleaned, mark shallow hand pumps with red color to prevent their use and close the pipes of hand pumps with concrete from all sides. Soak pits should be constructed near hand pumps to drain out wastewater, and bacteriological/virological tests should be conducted to monitor the quality of pure drinking water.

Special focus on sensitive areas

Guidelines have also been given regarding water logging and water supply. According to this, installation and monitoring of Mini Public Water Supply (MPWS), Tank Type Stand Post (TTSP) in the population should be ensured as per the standards. Roads and pavements should be constructed to prevent water logging and growth of vegetation. It is necessary to regularly remove vegetation grown on the roadside, concentrate activities in sensitive population groups of urban areas and urban slums and make sensitive areas Open Defecation Free (ODF) on priority basis. Apart from this, progress report of departmental activities in sensitive areas and urban slums should be prepared with documentation of physical progress.
