This evening, more than 50 thousand devotees will witness the Maha Aarti of Ganga at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi.
Today is Ganga Dussehra. More than 10 lakh devotees will gather to celebrate Ganga Dussehra in 27 districts along the Ganga in UP. The most grand program will be held in Kashi and Prayagraj. Where more than 2-2 lakh devotees and tourists will take bath in the Ganga. Ganga will be full of water from morning till late night.

22 Dev Kanyas will also perform Ganga Aarti
In Varanasi, 33 priests will perform the Maha Aarti of Ganga at Dashashwamedh Ghat in the evening. 22 Dev Kanyas will also perform Ganga Aarti along with blowing the conch shells. Here, Delhi MP and Bhojpuri star, Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari will sing bhajans on Ganga Maa. For the first time, 8 Dev Kanyas will perform Ganga Aarti at Sangam Nose in Prayagraj.
At Assi Ghat, a dupatta will be offered from both sides of the river Ganga. 1008 sarees will be tied together and devotees will travel by boat from one side to the other. According to the program coordinator Shravan Kumar Mishra, in the evening, after the grand aarti of Maa Ganga by 7 priests, cultural programs will be held. Singing, playing and dancing performances will be given by the artists of Banaras Gharana.
Ganga Aarti will be held here and there in Varanasi
On behalf of Subah-e-Banaras, the Rishikas i.e. the students of Panini Kanya Mahavidyalaya will perform a special havan for Maa Ganga at Brahma Bela at Assi Ghat. Ganga Aarti will be performed by 7 priests. Apart from this, Ganga Aarti will also be organized at Tulsi Ghat, Kedar Ghat, Mansarovar Ghat, Raja Ghat, Ahilyabai Ghat, Lalita Ghat, Scindia Ghat, Panchganga Ghat, Gai Ghat and Raj Ghat.
Devotees will take oath to keep Ganga clean
In Varanasi, after the morning Ganga Puja, the devotees present on the ghat will be sworn in to participate in Ganga Nirmalkaran i.e. keeping the Ganga clean. In the evening cultural program, renowned Kathak artist of Banaras Gharana Mataprasad Mishra and his son Rudrashankar Mishra will stage a dance drama on the theme of Ganga Avtaran.
Rudrabhishekam and Shivaarchanam at Vishwanatha Temple
Rudrabhishek will be performed at Gangeshwar Mahadev temple in Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple today at 6 pm. There will be worship on the idol of Ganga ji in the temple. Mother Ganga and Mahadev will be praised from the Shivarchanam stage in the Shankaracharya Chowk area of the temple. There will be a bhajan evening.
Regarding Ganga Dussehra, Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal held a meeting with all the police officers and chalked out the security arrangements.
- There will be a ban on flying drones.
- Police will keep strict surveillance through drones and CCTV videography.
- Today, a large number of women police force will be deployed at the Ganga bathing ghats. There will be very strict security arrangements at the ghats.
- An appeal has been made to maintain mutual harmony and tolerance among all communities.
- There will be strict monitoring and action against those who spread rumours and misleading information.
- Anti-social elements will be monitored through social media.
