Eid-ul-Azha prayers were held peacefully in Meerut on Monday. In the sermon, prayers were offered for rain and an appeal was made to celebrate Bakrid with love and affection. Namaz was offered at 9 places including Shahi Id Gah. At the time of namaz, the commissioner, IG, DM, SSP and police were present.

Before the Eid-ul-Azha prayers, the police had held a peace committee meeting and instructed people not to offer namaz on the road. It was said that those offering namaz on the road would be arrested by filing a case under 7 criminal acts. After that, they would be presented in court and sent to jail. However, the crowd of Namazis started gathering from Monday morning. Namaz was offered at 7:15 am in the city’s Delhi Road Shahi Eid Gah, at 7:30 in Hauz Khas Khairnagar, at 7:30 in Bhaiyya Ji Masjid Lalkurti, at 7:30 in Shahnathan, at 6:45 in Eidgah Lisadi, at 6:45 in Faiz-e-Aam, at 7:00 in Eid Gah Bale Miya, at Madina Masjid Hapur Road at 6:15, at Jama Masjid Summer Garden at 7:15 and at Madrasa Qasimul Uloom Kanch Ka Pul at 6:00 in the morning.

Surveillance done with drone cameras
In view of security at Shahi Eid Gah, drone cameras were installed, all 17 routes entering Eid Gah and 80 roads were barricaded. Along with this, the Namazis who reached Eid Gah after 7 am were sent back. Volunteers were also present along with the police personnel. They sent back the Namazis who reached late and also instructed them not to offer Namaz on the road.
