Additional DCP of Noida Zone Manish Kumar Mishra said that 22-year-old Nitesh Gupta, 20-year-old Tushar Kalra and 21-year-old Naveen Awana are students of a private university located in Sector-125. All three are currently living in rented rooms in different parts of Noida. The three, along with another friend, had tried to kill two policemen on June 8 by running a Thar car over them. The accused also abused and assaulted the policemen. On the complaint of the injured policeman, a case was registered against the unknown accused riding the Thar in Sector-49 police station. The accused were identified from the CCTV footage and arrested.

Abused for not knowing the way
Ajay Malik, a resident of Sector-82 LIG Udyog Vihar, had told the police in his complaint that he is currently posted in Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Line. On June 8, Ajay had come from the police line to meet Head Constable Vikas Malik posted at Morna Chowki. Both were talking after parking their car at the turn towards Sector-50. At around 12:30 in the night, a black Thar stopped near them, in which four youths were riding. The youths started asking Ajay and Vikas for directions. Both told the youths riding the Thar that they did not know the way, ask someone else. On this small matter, the Thar riders started abusing them. When both of them protested against the abuse, the youths drove the car forward.

Climbed the Thar with the intention of killing
After some time, the young men in the Thar returned and parked the vehicle about ten steps away from where the policemen were standing. When Ajay and Vikas finished the conversation and started going to their respective places, the Thar driver ran the vehicle over both of them with the intention of killing them.

In this incident, Head Constable Vikas suffered injuries on his knees and hands, while Ajay’s leg was broken at two places. Both of them also suffered head injuries. The complainant was admitted to the district hospital in a critical condition by passersby at night. Due to his critical condition, the complainant was admitted to a private hospital, where he underwent surgery. After being discharged from the hospital, the injured Ajay Malik complained about the matter to the police.

Police is investigating
Additional DCP Manish Kumar Mishra said that three youths who ran their car over the policemen and injured them have been arrested. The Thar car used in the incident has also been recovered. The case is being investigated keeping all aspects in mind.
