Angelina Jolie and her daughter Vivienne Jolie got emotional at the 2024 Tony Awards ceremony which took place on Sunday.
Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne Jolie joined the actress at the Tony Awards which took place on Sunday, June 16, and it was an emotional night for both of them. The awards show marked Vivienne’s first appearance since she dropped her father, actor Brad Pitt’s name from her name. Angelina and Vivienne were present at the awards show as the actress’s Broadway show, The Outsiders, was nominated for several awards.
In videos and photos gone viral on social media, Vivienne twinned with her mother in a teal outfit. A video revealed Vivienne opted for turned heads in a crisp white shirt under a teal vest. The 15-year-old, who was also the producer assistant on the project, completed her look with a bow tie and a pair of converse sneakers. On the other hand, Angelina wore a teal Atelier Versace strapless gown that featured a a sweetheart neckline and corseted bodice. On the red carpet, Vivienne held Angelina’s hand while they posed for the cameras.
In another video from the ceremony, Angelina and Vivienne are moved to tears after watching director Danya Taymor win the Best Direction Of A Musical for The Outsiders. Watch the video below:
For the unversed, The Outsiders is a Broadway musical which Angelina co-produced. The show won 12 awards, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, at the 2024 Tony Awards.
Speaking with People recently, Angelina had revealed it was because of her daughter Vivienne that she got on board of the musical. “She saw an early workshop a few times and then invited me to it. Viv is a young artist who focuses her efforts on her support of others. [Vivienne] has been there to assist in any way she can and has learned so much from [score and co-book writer] Justin Levine and the whole creative team,” Angelina said.
