A massive fire broke out in the transformer near the Awas Vikas office in Shastri Nagar situated in Nauchandi police station area on Tuesday late night due to a short circuit. Seeing the high flames of the fire, there was chaos and stampede in the area. People living nearby informed the fire department about the incident. But before the fire brigade vehicles could reach, the fire started showing its fierce form.

It engulfed a kiosk nearby. The kiosk was completely burnt to ashes before the fire brigade vehicles arrived. Two fire brigade vehicles that reached the spot managed to control the fire after a lot of effort, but the transformer was also burnt due to the fierce fire.

Due to the fire, the power supply to Sector 11 and its surrounding areas in Shastri Nagar went off, causing chaos in the area. On receiving the information, the employees of the electricity department also reached the spot and tried to restore the power supply, but the power supply was not restored in the area till late at night.
