Municipal Corporation team carrying out sealing action at a shopping complex located at Ramteeram Road in Ghaziabad on Wednesday.

The Municipal Corporation on Wednesday launched a campaign against big tax defaulters. The team sealed Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium Nehru Nagar and the shopping complex located on Ramteeram Road. The auditorium owed Rs 1 crore 89 lakh and the complex owed Rs 2 crore.

Municipal Corporation’s Chief Tax Assessment Officer Dr. Sanjeev said, notices were issued several times to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium Nehrunagar and Shopping Complex, but the dues were not deposited. Due to this, the Municipal Corporation was suffering a loss of revenue. After which both the properties were sealed on Wednesday. Apart from this, tax of more than two crore rupees is pending on 1146 shops. Notice has been given to these shops. If they do not deposit the tax, then sealing action will be taken on these shops as well. Apart from this, Ashok Kumar, Director of M/s Rally Infra Private Limited has also been directed to deposit the outstanding tax.

Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh held a meeting with all the zone in-charges on Wednesday regarding the outstanding tax. He said that the defaulters should be given time to pay the tax first. If the tax is not deposited even after this, then sealing action should be taken. Mayor Sunita Dayal has appealed to the people to pay the tax on time for the development of the city.
