Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia inspected the cleaning of drains on Wednesday. During this time, cleaning work was not found to be up to standard at many places in Zone 7. Even when the engineers lied, the mayor herself started checking the silt in the drain with a bamboo stick.

After that the mayor started questioning them. The responsible engineers were not able to give correct answers to his questions. The angry mayor started reprimanding the people on the spot. He even instructed the Municipal Commissioner to take strict action against all the responsible people.
The mayor visited four wards
The mayor conducted a field inspection of Lohia Nagar, Shankarpurwa Ward II, Indira Nagar Ward, Ismailganj Ward II in zone seven. During the inspection, many irregularities were found. This included the cleaning of drains not being satisfactory and poor sanitation arrangements.
On this the Mayor directed Municipal Commissioner Indrajit Singh to take action against the responsible XEN Vijendra Pal, Assistant Engineer, and the concerned junior engineer.
When the work was not done properly, the Mayor started scolding everyone on the spot.
XEN could not tell who got the work done
Regarding the cleaning of a drain near Adil Nagar Old Age Home in Shankarpurva II, the XEN could not even tell who got the work done. The Mayor asked who got the drain cleaned in the Engineering Department and RR Department.
But he was not aware of this. After this, orders were given to take action against the XEN. Apart from this, orders were also given to take action against the contractors who had not done the work of construction of these drains etc. satisfactorily.
