India’s star batsman Virat Kohli met West Indies great Wesley Hall. Hall has played 48 Test matches in his career and has taken 192 wickets.
After Team India’s practice session in Barbados, 86-year-old West Indies veteran fast bowler Hall came to meet Kohli. The former Indian captain sat with Kohli and was seen posing for pictures in the dugout. Kohli also released Wesley’s book.
Wesley Kohli said- You came to practice and you had to meet an old man. I have seen many great players and you are one of them. I saw your career and I hope you will play for India for many more years.
India’s bowlers top class – Hall
Wesley Hall believes that the Indian bowling unit is world class. He said, some bowlers are very fast, bowl bouncers very hard, and then there are players who bowl on the right line and you get out before you can say it. The point is that I would rather get you out than hit you. I think India’s bowlers are world class.
Wesley Hall also met Indian team coach Rahul Dravid.
Test cricket has fallen in front of the money of T20 leagues – Hall
On the declining interest in Test cricket among people in the West Indies, Hall said, “You just need some players who stick with you. I mean, at one time, we had some great players, but they weren’t playing Test cricket. But that’s the problem, you see.”
If I’m working class, I don’t have any money and someone offers me a million dollars for four years, I can’t really say no to it.
Cricket became batter friendly- Hall
Hall believes that cricket has become batter friendly over the years. He said, we should know that things will change. In T20 cricket, the game has become more batter friendly. There are some things that surprise me.
I just wonder why batsmen get to bat for the entire innings, whereas, bowlers get to bowl only 4 overs. I often ask this question.
Pacer should be at least 6 feet tall- Hall
The 6-foot-5 bowler believes that a good fast bowler should be at least six feet tall. You have to remember that when we retired, we had almost two fast bowlers in the West Indies. Some of them could not make it into the team. We should always look for some good fast bowlers.
I like a six-foot fast bowler. When you bowl in the slip corner, you’re looking for bounce. Like Big Bird Joel Garner used to do, and (Curtly) Ambrose. These guys, they bowl and they were able to get bounce.
