Youth and students are also getting involved in this
Now young people and students are also getting involved a lot and see yoga as a complete and holistic tradition. Wherever I go in New Zealand, young people, students, especially college kids… are very involved in it. Initially, they see it as a tradition of physical fitness. But I think they move forward very quickly and see that it is a complete and holistic tradition.
The Yogathon program has gained a lot of popularity here and it has emerged as a very big program, due to which the people of New Zealand are so impressed with yoga and its benefits that a lot of yoga schools have opened here and people there celebrate International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm.
People are being made aware about yoga
Yoga week is organized on International Yoga Day, in which yoga is taught to everyone for free and people are made aware about yoga. In which people there are introduced to yoga, Indian culture, spirituality, mantras.
This time the Yogathon team tried to take the Yogathon program to schools, colleges and universities as well, as a result of which yoga classes were conducted under Yogathon at Massey University. The principal of Epsom Normal Primary School was so impressed with this Yogathon program and yoga that he has announced to include yoga in his curriculum in the next session of the school.
