Three members of the gang who stole Thar cars from Purvanchal including Varanasi and sold them in West Bengal got relief on Thursday evening. The judge accepted the bail plea of the accused and released them on two bonds of Rs 40,000 each as there was no concrete evidence against them.

However, the police arrested three thieves along with four vehicles and recovered keys of several vehicles, Wi-Fi router, cutter, fast tag, steel plate and form for making chassis number from their possession. During interrogation, the thieves told that they used to steal vehicles including Thar and sell them in the districts of West Bengal.
The court of ACJM (seventh), the officer in charge of Varanasi district and court, heard the case of stealing Mahindra Thar car and selling it after changing the number plate (fake). The prosecution argued that these people have a gang. These people used to steal expensive cars and sell them in many states including Bihar, Bengal, Rajasthan after changing the number plate and chassis number.
Shobhit Jaiswal, a resident of Harhua (market) Badagaon, had also filed a case in Badagaon police station. On the night of 21 April 2024, his Mahindra Thar parked outside the house was stolen. When he came out of the house in the morning, he saw that his Thar car was missing. When the police registered a case and investigated, the name of the accused came to light and he was arrested and sent to jail.
Advocate Varun Pratap Singh presented his case on behalf of the defence in the court. The judge granted bail to three accused of the gang. Kamal Asif, a resident of Asansol, Bengal and Rakesh Kumar Yadav and Anil Kumar Yadav, residents of Pratapgarh, were ordered to be released.
