IPS Mohita Sharma: Inspiring Story Of Reasi SSP – News18


Mohita Sharma was an Assistant Section Officer at the Election Commission.

Mohita Sharma pursued her B.Tech degree from Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, New Delhi. She completed her graduation in 2012.

A few days back, a bus carrying pilgrims from the state of Uttar Pradesh was attacked by some terrorists in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Following the incident, the police launched a search operation in the area to find the terrorists linked with the attack. The police arrested a 45-year-old man named Hakimdeen in connection with the attack on Wednesday. Since then Reasi’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohita Sharma has been in the spotlight. She led the operation and arrested one terrorist.

Mohita Sharma joined the civil services as an IPS in 2016. She cracked the UPSC examination on her 5th attempt. She also took part in the 12th season of the popular television show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). Today, she is an inspiration for thousands of girls who wish to join the civil services.

Mohita Sharma belongs to the city of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. Her father worked for Maruti Suzuki while her mother was a homemaker. Despite her father’s limited income, he ensured that Mohita received a good education. The IPS officer completed her schooling at Delhi Public School, Dwarka. Then she pursued her B.Tech degree from Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, New Delhi. She completed her graduation in 2012.

Following the conclusion of her graduation, Mohita joined the Election Commission of India (ECI) as an Assistant Section Officer in the year 2016. She started her preparation for the UPSC examination while she was working as she had a passion for joining the civil services. In 2016, she cracked the exam on her fifth attempt with an All India Rank of 262. In 2017, she joined the office as an IPS officer. In 2019 she got married to IFS officer Rushal Garg.

The IPS officer participated in the 12th season of the Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). She won Rs 1 crore.
