The Yogi government is claiming to make the state malaria free by the year 2027. In such a situation, the Yogi government is emphasizing on investigation of every case of malaria and complete treatment of every patient. Under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program, June is being celebrated as Anti Malaria Month.

Emphasis is being given on case reporting and management

To overcome the challenges of malaria elimination, India has emphasized on improved case reporting and management in different parts of the country. It has accelerated the vector control process and enhanced continuous epidemiological and entomological surveillance. It has also emphasized community participation, training and capacity development. It has also shown commitment to elimination by preparing regional strategies.

State Malaria Officer Dr. Vikas Singhal said that maximum attention is being paid to reporting of malaria cases and ensuring complete treatment. In fact, every case is investigated and treated thoroughly to ensure this. All district malaria officers, related staff and front line workers have been trained and rapid diagnostic test kits have been made available in all districts for malaria testing. In this sequence, health workers are conducting more and more surveys and malaria tests of fever patients. People in the community are being made aware about the prevention and symptoms of malaria.

Fogging is being done for mosquito control

The state malaria officer said that monsoon is expected to arrive in the last week of June. During this time mosquito-borne diseases also flourish. In view of extensive preparations to prevent them, June is celebrated as malaria month. Various activities are being organized in urban and rural areas for this. Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease, which is caused by the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito. After its parasite enters the body, fever occurs within 14 to 21 days. To prevent it, it is most important to identify its symptoms and treat it on time. It can be completely treated and prevented.

Lucknow’s District Malaria Officer Dr. Ritu Srivastava said that insecticide spraying and fogging is being done for mosquito control. Seminars are being held to make the community aware. In urban areas, insect collectors are identifying areas where mosquito density is high and insecticide spraying and fogging is being done there on priority basis. In urban areas, this work is being done by the Municipal Corporation and in rural areas by the Panchayat. Health workers are informing the community about the prevention and symptoms of dengue and malaria and fever patients are being tested for malaria through rapid diagnostic kits.

•Fever accompanied by chills and shivering.

•Severe headache, excessive sweating when the fever subsides.

•Fatigue, dizziness, increased weakness, vomiting.

•Feeling thirsty every now and then, cramps in hands and legs.

Protect yourself like this…

•Do not let water accumulate anywhere in or around the house.

•Do not allow water to collect in pots, old tyres lying on the roof, or other unused materials.

•Keep changing the water in the cooler frequently, keep adding kerosene from time to time.

•Use mosquito net and mosquito coil while sleeping.

•Wear full-sleeved clothes to cover most of the body and protect against mosquitoes.

Pregnant women should sleep in an insecticide-treated mosquito net (ITN).
