The campaign will be run with the cooperation of the Health Department and ICDS Department.
The employees of both the departments associated with the campaign are being trained so that they can administer the prescribed quantity of Vitamin A supplements to children during the Rural and Urban Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND and UHSND) sessions.
Do not ignore vitamin A
Deputy District Immunization Officer Dr. Rajeshwar Singh said that during the implementation of the program, children will be given vitamin A supplements through separate spoons at VHSND and UHSND sessions organized every Wednesday and Saturday. Dr. Singh said that deficiency of vitamin A can cause weak eyesight in children, poor night vision, blindness, dry eyes, dry skin and skin related problems.
Due to its deficiency, common childhood diseases like diarrhea can also become serious. To overcome all these deficiencies, it is very important to give vitamin A supplements to children. Its dose is given during the first and second dose of MR vaccine in the regular vaccination program. After this, the third to ninth dose is given every six months during the campaign. It is mandatory to give half a spoon of medicine to a child between nine months to one year and a full spoon to a child between one year to five years.
