Before the airport was built, there was land of villages and farmers here, on which the number of trees was very high. When environmental clearance was taken from the Government of India, a condition was laid that 10 times more trees will be planted in place of the number of trees removed.

CEO of Yamuna Authority Arunvir Singh said that initially about five and a half thousand trees were removed from there and in place of them 60 thousand trees were planted by Yamuna Authority. Apart from this, many trees were also left, but now about 600 of those trees are coming on the landing area of the runway, due to which Zurich company is requesting to remove these trees.

Farmers will be given compensation
Arunvir Singh told that all these trees belong to the farmers. The farmers have not yet been compensated for these trees. He has asked the Zurich company to compensate the farmers for these trees. After this, the forest department got these trees removed from here. About 58 lakh rupees are due to the farmers. Yamuna Authority also told that in lieu of removing these trees, 10 times more saplings will be planted, that is, if 600 trees are removed, then Yamuna Authority will plant about 6 thousand saplings in lieu of that. He told that these trees were in the farmers’ fields, which were poplar and other trees.
