Taking inspiration from Netflix’s Bridgerton season 3, Mumbai Police has issued a few PSAs to caution citizens about the road safety rules.
Mumbai Police has gained a reputation for spreading awareness through quirky and amusing posts. By cleverly tapping into current trends, these posts effectively engage citizens and raise awareness on various issues. At a time when the Bridgerton frenzy is still raging among viewers, Mumbai Police has also joined in the bandwagon. Taking a cue from Lady Whistledown, the secret gossip columnist, they have introduced some creative PSAs aka public service announcements.
Giving a royal twist to the general road safety announcements for seatbelts, traffic lights, helmets, driving licenses and more, the Mumbai Police picked famous quotes from the Netflix series. The post’s caption also goes Bridgerton mode as it states, “Dearest Gentle Reader, We need our most distinguished members of the ton to be vigilant, lest you face a traffic tangle! If a commotion arises, rest assured, we shall uncover every detail. Yours in Devoted Service, Mumbai Traffic Police.”
Coming back to the posts, they drew inspiration from some iconic dialogues and twisted them to elaborate traffic discipline for road commuters. To caution citizens about the importance of wearing helmets, they wrote, “You are the bane of my existence and the object of all my desires.” Further, for traffic lights, the department took hints from Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma and added, “Just keep looking at me, no one else matters.”
Another crucial PSA regarding seatbelts states, “I will stand with you between the heavens and the earth.” Last but not least, Mumbai Police did not forget to quote Queen Charlotte’s popular phrase “Sorrows, sorrows, prayers,” in the context of the fines that people can face upon breaking the rules.
The post simply left social media users, especially Bridgerton fans, quite impressed. Many took to the comment section and complimented the police department’s social media handle for the witty and humourous take. Netflix India’s official handle commented, “There is but one thing that humbles even the most highly regarded members of our dear ton…a traffic violation!”
A user wrote, “This is the absolute best use of social media,” while another commented, “The handle’s social media team deserves a raise.”
“Someone should actually give the person who comes up with these ideas for the post an Oscar. You rock,” another user commented. One of the comments read, “The ton is pleased with this version of Lord Mumbai Police.”
Shared two days ago, the post has amassed nearly 40,000 likes.
