Samreen has relatives in the youth’s neighbourhood. Samreen had gone to a wedding there. This is where she met Mitrapal. Mitrapal has studied up to class 8 and has a private job of Rs. 12,000.

After that both of them took each other’s mobile numbers and started talking secretly. When Samreen’s family came to know about this, they scolded her and stopped her from leaving the house. But Samreen left her house to get her lover Mitrapal.

Samreen alias Suman Yadav said that women are not respected among Muslims. They cannot leave the house without a burqa, they cannot talk to anyone. Even if someone comes to the house, the family members keep an eye on them. That means the daughter-in-law of the house has to stay imprisoned in a room in a burqa.

Samreen alias Suman Yadav said that I was thinking of changing my religion for the last one year. When I met my lover Mitrapal and saw other Hindu families, I liked their lifestyle. I did not even read Namaaz, nor do I like Islam. Samreen further said that when I went to my Hindu friends’ house, I liked it there, the daughter-in-law used to wear sari or salwar suit but did not wear pallu. I used to say that we should not be allowed to stay without burqa for even a minute.

Now there is no fear of Halala

Samreen alias Suman Yadav said that my life is in danger from my family. My family can do something bad to me or my husband Mitrapal. That is why I will also request the police for protection. She further said that in our place, women were thrown out of the house after giving triple talaq, then if they had to live with their husbands, they had to do halala first. Now there is no restriction here. That is why I will remain a Hindu for life.
