Australian batsman David Warner has retired from international cricket. The Australian Cricket Board (CA) gave this information by posting on Instagram. In the post, CA showed some memorable moments of Warner’s 15-year career through photos.
Warner’s retirement depended on this match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Now with Afghanistan’s victory, Australia’s team was eliminated and Warner’s 15-year career also ended. In this way, Warner played his last international match against India in the Super-8. However, Warner has not given any official statement till now.
Warner has already retired from ODI and Test cricket. However, while announcing his retirement from ODI, he had said, “If needed, I will be available in the Champions Trophy.”
Warner has been a part of the World Cup winning team three times. This includes the 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2021 T20 World Cup. Warner was also selected as the Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup 2021.
Warner’s journey in T20 International
Warner is the highest run scorer among Australian players in T20 International. He has scored 3277 runs in 110 T20 International matches.
Started his test career in 2011
David Warner made his Test debut in 2011 against New Zealand in Brisbane. He scored 8786 runs in 112 Test matches at an average of 44.59. This includes 26 centuries and 37 half-centuries.
Scored runs at an average of around 45 in ODIs
Warner started his international career in ODIs against South Africa in Hobart in 2009. He played his last ODI match in the ODI World Cup final against India in Ahmedabad on 19 November. So far, he has scored 6932 runs in 161 ODIs at an average of 45.30. In this, he scored 22 centuries and 33 half-centuries.
