NTA announces new dates for 3 exams: will be held in online mode from 10 July to 4 September; These include UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, NCET

On June 18, the UGC NET exam for 83 subjects was conducted in two shifts on the same day.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced new dates for UGC-NET, CSIR-NET and NCET exams on Friday (28 June) night. These exams will be held between July 10 and September 4. These three exams were earlier scheduled to be held in June, which were cancelled due to various reasons.
According to the new dates, the NCET exam will be held on July 10. UGC NET will be held between August 21 and September 4 and CSIR-UGC NET will be held between July 25 and July 27.
This time the exam mode has also been kept online. Before being cancelled, UGC-NET was held in pen and paper mode.
Apart from these, the All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Exam (AIAPGET) 2024 will be held on the scheduled date i.e. 6th July.
What importance do these exams hold?
- UGC NET: This exam is held for PhD admissions, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and the post of Assistant Professor in universities across the country. On June 19, the University Grants Commission (UGC) received inputs of irregularities in the exam from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center of the Home Ministry. The Education Ministry said – it indicated that honesty was not maintained in conducting the examination. After this, the Education Ministry ordered the National Testing Agency (NTA) to cancel it. The Center has handed over the matter to the CBI for investigation. The exam was held on June 18 in 83 subjects. The exam was held in 2 shifts and in 317 cities of the country. More than 11.21 lakh students had registered for it, but only about 81% took the exam. This year the exam was held in pen-paper mode. Whereas earlier it was held online.
- CSIR-NET: This exam is conducted for PhD admission in Chemical Science, Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Science, Life Science, Mathematical Science and Physical Science. The exam was to be held from 25 June to 27 June. It was cancelled on 21 June. The reason given was that NTA lacks resources. More than 2 lakh students had registered for this exam.
- NCERT: This exam is conducted for admission in a 4-year integrated teacher education program. Through this, one gets entrance in central and state universities and institutions. These include IITs, NITs, RIEs and government colleges. The exam was postponed just hours before it was to start on June 12, it will now be held on July 10.
NTA is surrounded by controversy in NEET exam
On June 9, there was a protest against NTA in New Delhi.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is already surrounded by allegations regarding the NEET UG 2024 controversy. On June 11, the Supreme Court heard the petition of student Shivangi Mishra and 9 other students. It was filed on June 1 before the declaration of the result. The candidates had complained of irregularities due to distribution of wrong question papers at the exam centers in Bihar and Rajasthan and demanded cancellation of the exam and an SIT inquiry.
However, SC refused to stay NEET counseling and issued notice to NTA. The court had raised questions on paper leak, grace marking and other irregularities in NEET UG 2024. A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice A. Amanullah had said that the sanctity of the exam has been affected, we want answers. In the notice, the bench had sought a reply from the Center and the exam conducting agency NTA in 4 weeks.
CBI arrested 5 in NEET paper leak case
CBI has arrested 5 people so far in the NEET paper leak case. Manish Prakash and Ashutosh were arrested from Patna on 27 June. They had booked a play school to make the candidates memorize the leaked paper. Burnt pieces of paper were also found from here. On 28 June, 3 people were arrested from Hazaribagh. These include Oasis School Principal Ehsan Ul Haq, Vice Principal Imtiaz and journalist Jamaluddin. 27 arrests have been made from 5 states in this case. Read full news…

NTA sought suggestions to improve the exam
The high level committee formed to improve NTA has sought suggestions from students and parents between June 27 and July 7. Teachers and institutes can also give their suggestions. The Education Ministry had formed a committee on June 22 to monitor NTA. Former ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan is the chairman of the committee.
