I am proud of my grandson. I had lost hope that India would win, but Surya’s catch turned the match around. The third umpire was reviewing the catch. I was breathless. I was praying to God that this catch should be safe. God heard my prayers.

This is what Surya Kumar Yadav’s grandfather Vikram Singh Yadav said. He lives in Hathaura village of Ghazipur in UP. Daily newspaper The team reached Surya’s ancestral home. There was celebration in Hathaura village on Sunday as well.
The celebration was held by cutting a cake at Surya’s house. Here, cricket lovers fed cake to Surya Kumar’s grandfather Vikram Singh Yadav and raised slogans of Team India Zindabad, Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Surya Kumar Yadav Zindabad. Dance was also performed on drums.

Grandfather said- there was a crowd in our house since night
Surya Kumar’s grandfather says- On Saturday night, there was a crowd of villagers at my house. Everyone wanted to see Surya play well. After Team India won the final match of the T-20 World Cup, celebrations started in the village from the night itself. People gave me cold drinks and sweets. People came in the morning too. They cut the cake with us.
Said to Surya’s father, people are dancing here
Dada said- The time when Surya took a brilliant catch was the turning point of the match. Today I spoke to Surya’s father Ashok on mobile. He congratulated everyone on Team India’s victory. He asked about the atmosphere in the village. I said- There is happiness here. People are dancing. We have also cut the cake. We celebrated with the children of the village. Ashok was also very happy to hear this.

It seemed that India would lose, but the catch changed the course of the match
After cutting the cake, the young men dancing with joy said- Surya Kumar may not have done well in batting in the T-20 World Cup final. But the catch he took at the last moment changed the course of the match. From there the match came in India’s hands. For a moment we thought that India will lose the match. But Surya Kumar did wonders by converting a six into a wicket. Because of this catch we won.
A child from our village won the match
Surya Kumar’s fan Tersu Yadav said- He is a child from our village. He has come from here. I saw a tweet of Surya in which he had written, I was thinking how to take the turning point and I got the chance. The catch he took was the turning point of the match. Due to which the whole match turned around. Along with Surya Kumar, world’s number one bowler Bumrah also played an important role in winning the match.
Won the match because of Bumrah and Surya
Alok Yadav said- When Surya Kumar caught the catch, the hope increased that we will win the match. When South Africa needed 30 runs in 30 balls, we thought that the match will slip out of our hands. But Bumrah bowled well and we won the match. When David Miller hit the ball in the air, we thought that the catch will be close. But it started crossing the boundary, when Surya Kumar caught it, we felt that it has been caught. When we looked again, it was really a catch.

Our eyes were only on Surya Kumar
Satish Yadav said- The catch of Hardik Pandya and Surya Kumar was very good. Due to which our team got success. Hathaura resident Ranjit Yadav said that Surya Kumar was the turning point of the match. He converted the six into a wicket. He saved the ball, saved the run, since then the match turned. Our eyes were fixed on Surya Kumar Yadav. Surya Kumar Yadav Zindabad.
Grandfather was an inspector, father is an engineer in Bhabha
Team India’s star batsman Surya Kumar Yadav was born on 14 September 1990 in Ghazipur. Surya’s grandfather Vikram Singh Yadav has been an inspector in CRPF. He has also received the President’s Police Medal in the year 1991. Surya’s father Ashok Kumar Yadav moved from Ghazipur to Mumbai for a job. Ashok is currently an engineer at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center.

Surya came to take his grandfather’s blessings after marriage
Due to his father’s job, Surya also studied in Mumbai. He used to come to Ghazipur with his father Ashok during summer vacations. He used to play matches here all day long. He was very naughty in his childhood, but was good at studies. In 2016, Surya got married to his friend Devisha Shetty. After marriage, Surya came to Ghazipur to seek blessings of his grandfather.
Surya takes a memorable catch, dangerous Miller is out
Actually, in yesterday’s match, South Africa had to score 16 runs in 6 balls. David Miller was at the crease. Hardik bowled a low full-toss on the off stump. Miller played a shot which was crossing the boundary. Surya Kumar caught the ball while going outside the boundary, bounced the ball and completed the catch by coming inside the boundary.

Talking about Surya Kumar’s cricket career, he has scored 2340 runs in 68 T-20 matches. This includes 4 centuries and 19 half-centuries. He has scored 736 runs in 37 ODI matches. While he has scored more than 3500 runs in 150 IPL matches.
Fell in love with dance, got married after dating for 5 years
Surya Kumar had a love marriage with South Indian girl Devisha in 2016. Surya was a B.Com first year student at the age of 22. Then 19-year-old Devisha passed 12th and took admission in the same college. Devisha’s dance in a program made Surya crazy about her. Devisha also liked Surya’s batting a lot. After dating each other for 5 years, both gave a name to this relationship. Both got married on July 7, 2016.
