Taking cognizance of the continuous complaints of sewer cleaning in Varanasi, the higher authorities have directed all the officers of the Municipal Corporation to visit the area with public representatives from 6 to 9 in the morning. In the last 2 months, the Municipal Corporation has received more than 1 thousand complaints, big and small, related to sewer. In which the officials claim that 70% of the problems have been resolved.

People in various areas of Varanasi are complaining that the sewer problem has been troubling people for many months. Sewer water flows in the streets. People commute through it. People of Bhadaini area told that the local people had complained in the meantime. After a week, the contractor of Jalkal came and uprooted the chamber and did some cleaning and left. Not even a month had passed when the sewer problem started troubling people again. Due to sewer overflow, people again complained on the helpline number of Jalkal. Then the cleaners came and cleaned superficially and went away after taking photographs.

Municipal Commissioner said- complaints are being resolved promptly

Municipal Commissioner Akshat Verma says that a team has been formed for the areas where sewer related complaints are being received. The zonal officer of the zone where complaints are received is also being instructed to get it fixed. He said that all the officers have been instructed to visit 6 to 9 areas. The rest of the drains are being cleaned with the help of machines.
