1. Joint military exercise ‘Nomadic Elephant’ begins
The joint military exercise ‘Nomadic Elephant’ between the armies of India and Mongolia began on July 3. This is the 16th edition of the exercise, which started in Umroi, Meghalaya, and will continue till July 16.

The Indian contingent comprising 45 personnel is represented by the battalion of Sikkim Scouts. The Mongolian contingent is represented by the 150 Quick Reaction Force battalion. The Nomadic Elephant exercise was first started in 2006.

The aim of this exercise is to enhance joint military capabilities for counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban and mountainous terrain.

2. Japan begins circulation of new banknotes
On July 3, Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda launched the new notes. These use 3D hologrammic technology to prevent counterfeiting. Japan has issued new banknotes for the first time in two decades.

The new 10,000 yen (US$62) note features Eiichi Shibusawa (1840-1931). He was the founder of Japan’s first Mizuho Bank and Stock Exchange. He is also known as the ‘Father of Japanese Capitalism’.

The new 5,000 yen note features a portrait of educator Umeko Tsuda (1864-1929), who founded the first women’s university in Japan. The 1,000 yen note features a portrait of leading medical scientist Shibasaburo Kitasato (1853-1931).

3. Aditya L1 completes first rotation of halo orbit
On July 2, India’s first solar mission Aditya L1 spacecraft completed its first orbit around the sun. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) informed about the completion of the halo orbit on social media.

ISRO has put Aditya L1 from the first orbit to the second orbit. Aditya L1 was launched on 2 September 2023. It reached Lagrangian point L1 on 6 January 2024. This mission worth Rs 400 crore will now protect satellites of the whole world including India from solar storms.

Aditya L1 completed its first orbit around the Sun in 178 days.

Punjab National Bank has announced recruitment for 2700 apprentice posts. The application process for this recruitment is ongoing. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website www.pnbindia.in.

Educational Qualification :

  • Must have passed BE or BTech or BSc (Engineering) degree with minimum 60% marks in the relevant branch.
  • Must have obtained a valid score in GATE 2024 examination.

Age Range :

  • The maximum age is 28 years.
  • Age will be counted from December 31, 2023.
  • Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be given relaxation in maximum age limit as per Central Government rules.

1. PM Modi mentioned the NEET issue in the Rajya Sabha
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke about NEET while responding to the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha. He said that the issue of paper leak is very sensitive.

Two students committed suicide in a single day in Sikar, Rajasthan. One of them was a 16-year-old student studying in class 10. The other student who committed suicide was 17 years old and had come here for NEET coaching. No suicide note has been found from either of the students so far.
