There will be no problem of waterlogging in Gomti Nagar in the next rain. The drainage system here will be improved. For this, IIT Roorkee has prepared a new design of drains. On the basis of this, the Municipal Corporation has prepared a DPR to build 39.810 km long drains here.

Rs 151.46 crore will be spent on this, for which the proposal has been sent to the government for approval. This will provide relief to a population of about 5 lakh. Waterlogging occurs in areas like Vibhuti Khand. Where all the big offices and hotels including the High Court are located.

Municipal commissioner angry after seeing the dirt

The Municipal Commissioner who went to see the cleaning of drains and other arrangements in Zone 1 got furious after seeing the dirt. He reprimanded the officers on the spot. There should not be any problem during the rainy season. There should be adequate arrangement of diesel at the pumping station. Apart from this, an order has been issued to all the employees to do their work honestly on a regular basis.

The Municipal Commissioner clearly told the Zonal Sanitary Officer and the Cleaning and Food Inspector that if garbage is seen here again, they will be suspended straight away. Promotional posters were found pasted on the walls on the side of the road going from Jiyamau towards 1090. The Municipal Commissioner has directed to issue notices to everyone.

The water was up to the waist

Last year, there was severe waterlogging in the city during the rains. Water had filled the roads in planned colonies like Gomti Nagar. The roads around the High Court were overflowing. Last year, on the orders of the High Court, a team of officers from several departments was formed. After several rounds of meetings, it was decided to get the drains of Gomti Nagar designed by IIT.

After the survey, the experts of IIT Roorkee have prepared a report on the drainage system of Gomtinagar area and submitted it to the Municipal Corporation. In this, it has proposed to re-design 39.810 km of drains of Gomtinagar only. Even the roads of many areas were completely damaged due to waterlogging. Due to this, the department suffered a loss of crores of rupees.
