In the appeal, a demand has been made to cancel the sentence given by the special court of Kanpur Nagar. Apart from this, a demand has also been made to stay the sentence till the final verdict is given and to release him on bail.

Irfan Solanki’s assembly membership was lost
According to Solanki’s advocate Upendra Upadhyay, the appeal is likely to be heard next week. Due to the sentence, MLA Irfan Solanki has lost his assembly membership. If he gets relief of stay on the sentence, then he can regain his MLA membership. On June 7, Kanpur’s Special MP MLA Court has sentenced five people including SP MLA Irfan Solanki to seven years of imprisonment and fine. This sentence has been given after declaring them guilty in the case of burning the house of a woman named Nazir Fatima in Defense Colony of Jajmau.
Solanki was elected MLA from Sisamau seat on Samajwadi Party ticket. After the conviction, he has lost his MLA post. Irfan Solanki is currently lodged in Maharajganj jail.

Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki and his brothers Rizwan Solanki, Shaukat Pehelwan, Israel Aate Wala and Mohammad Sharif were sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and fined Rs 30,500 by the MPML court. A woman named Nazir Fatima had lodged a case of arson with the intention of occupying the house at Jajmau police station on 8 November 2022.
