1. World’s first CNG bike launched: On July 5, Bajaj Auto launched the world’s first CNG-powered motorcycle ‘Bajaj Freedom 125’. This bike will run on both CNG and petrol. One can switch between CNG and petrol by pressing a button.

  • The starting price of ‘Bajaj Freedom 125’ is Rs 95,000.
  • It has a 2 liter petrol tank and a 2 Kg CNG tank.
  • The company claims that the bike will run 330 Km using both fuels.
  • More than 11 safety tests have been done on this bike.
  • Bajaj company will create a portfolio of CNG bikes.
  • This will include 100CC, 125CC and 150-160CC bikes.
  • It will be launched first in Maharashtra and later in those states where CNG stations are available.

2. Vidyut Ranjan became the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court: On 5 July, Justice Vidyut Ranjan Sarangi took oath as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office to him. Ranjan was appointed after the retirement of Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra.

  • Vidyut Ranjan Sarangi has also practiced law in the Supreme Court.
  • He is a life member of the Odisha High Court Bar Association.
  • Ranjan was also associated with the Civil Court Bar Association, Criminal Court Bar Association and Central Tribunal Bar Association.
  • In December 1985, he started his career as a lawyer in Orissa High Court.
  • He completed his law studies from Cuttack Madhusudhan Law College.
  • Vidyut Ranjan was born on 20 July 1962 in Nayagarh, Odisha.

3. Sanjeev Sachdeva becomes acting Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court: On July 4, the Department of Law and Justice of the Central Government appointed Senior Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva of Madhya Pradesh High Court as the new acting judge. He will take charge in place of Justice Sheel Nagu.

4. Sheel Nagu became Chief Justice of Punjab-Haryana High Court: On July 4, the central government appointed Madhya Pradesh High Court Acting Chief Justice Sheel Nagu as the next Chief Justice of Punjab-Haryana High Court. He will replace Acting Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia.

5. Neeraj Chopra will lead the Indian team for Paris Olympics: On July 4, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) announced the 28-member Indian athletics team for the Paris Olympics. Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra will lead the Indian team.
