1. Vidyut Ranjan became the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court
On July 5, Justice Vidyut Ranjan Sarangi took oath as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office to him.

Ranjan was appointed after the retirement of Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra. He has also practised in the Supreme Court. Apart from this, he is a life member of the Odisha High Court Bar Association.

2. Neeraj Chopra will lead the Indian team for the Paris Olympics
On July 4, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) announced the 28-member Indian athletics team for the Paris Olympics.

Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra will lead the Indian team. Annu Rani will also represent India in javelin throw in Paris. Annu won the gold medal in women’s javelin throw at the Asian Games last year.

The 28-member athletics team for the Paris Olympics includes 17 male and 11 female athletes.

3. Sheel Nagu became the Chief Justice of Punjab-Haryana High Court
On July 4, the central government appointed acting Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Sheel Nagu as the next Chief Justice of Punjab-Haryana High Court. He will replace acting Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia.

Sheel Nagu became the acting Chief Justice of MP High Court on 25 May 2024. He was serving as the Executive Chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority till 29 October 2021.

He has also worked as a Justice in the Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

1. Recruitment for 1500 operator posts in Haryana
According to the notification issued by the Civil Resources Information Department of Haryana, applications have been invited for recruitment to 1500 posts of operator. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website oprecruitment.hppa.in.

Atal Seva Kendra Operators (ASKO) will be there in all the panchayats of the state. The last date for applying for these posts has been fixed as 6th July.

Educational Qualification :

  • Candidates must be 12th passed.

Age Range :

  • The age of the candidates has been fixed from 18 to 42 years.
  • There is relaxation in upper age limit for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

2. UCO Bank has released recruitment for 544 apprentice posts, opportunity for graduates
UCO Bank has issued a notification for the recruitment of apprentice posts in branches located in various states and union territories. Candidates can apply through the active link on the official website ucobank.com.

Of these, the maximum number of 85 posts are for West Bengal, while 47 vacancies have been released for Uttar Pradesh and 44 for Odisha.

Educational Qualification :

  • Must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any other higher education institute.

Age Range :

  • The age of the candidates should not be less than 20 years and not more than 28 years as on 1st July 2024.
  • Relaxation in maximum age limit will be given to candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, etc.) as per Central Government rules.

1. NEET PG exam will be held on 11 August
The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has released the new date of NEET PG exam on Friday. This exam will now be held on August 11 in two shifts in online mode.

Earlier this exam was to be held on 23rd June, but due to the fear of tampering, it was cancelled 12 hours before. To prevent paper leak and any tampering, the National Board of Examination in Medical Science will now prepare the paper 2 hours before the exam on 11th August.

2. Student preparing for JEE in Kota committed suicide
A 16-year-old JEE aspirant committed suicide in his PG room in Kota. The student was a resident of Bihar’s Nalanda district. This is the 13th case of suicide by students taking coaching in Kota this year. Last year, 26 students committed suicide here.

3. Kathak classes to keep students stress free at IIT Lucknow
IIT Lucknow has started Kathak classes on campus to keep its students stress free. A highly qualified Kathak teacher has also been appointed for this.

This is the first such case in the country. The director of IIT Lucknow said that initially this was started only as an experiment. But the students liked this idea a lot. Some students have started going to Kathak classes regularly.
