Prime Minister’s conversation with World Champion Team India…
1. Rohit Sharma, captain
During the conversation with Indian captain Rohit Sharma, the Prime Minister asked him the reason behind kissing the pitch. To this Rohit replied- ‘We all had waited for this day for a long time. We had worked very hard for this. Many times we had come very close to winning the World Cup, but we could not move forward, but this time because of everyone we were able to achieve this. That is why we did this.’
2. Virat Kohli
PM asked Virat Kohli about his return to form during the World Cup. On this Virat Kohli said- I was not able to perform to my potential in the entire World Cup. I had told this to coach Rahul Dravid that I am not able to do justice to my team, then the coach said I am sure that when the opportunity comes you will perform.
Later the same thing happened, on the day of the final, I hit 3 fours in the first over. Then I told Rohit, look what kind of game is this. Sometimes it is difficult to score even one run and sometimes everything starts happening.
